Piknic Électronik reiterates its core values: diversity, inclusion, and respect!

Starting this weekend at the Piknic Électronik site, a specially trained team and a new Refuge area will be made available for any person in a vulnerable situation. In its own unique way, Piknic joins the movement created by the "Hirondelles" initiative proposed this summer by the Spectra team, and hopes other events and festivals will join in as well

The values of inclusion, respect and celebration of diversity are at the heart of all events proposed by Piknic Électronik, which wants to offer festival goers a friendly and safe environment to celebrate in. That's why starting this weekend, Piknic will present a special squad of agents specially trained by the PLURI organization to respond to and listen to any person who feels they're in a vulnerable situation or facing bothersome and disrespectful behaviour (verbal or physical harassment). Anyone who feels the need can confide in these agents who will be patrolling the site, and access the new Refuge area away from the action to find a moment of peace.

Having fun with no worries, a basic and universal right for all

For Nicolas Cournoyer, cofounder of Piknic Électronik, a mass movement is necessary:  "We're always attentive to this subject and seeing what's going on in the news today, we thought it important to reiterate our core values, improve the awareness of our employees and join the movement. We hope other festivals and events will join in as well." The original "Hirondelles" project was launched this summer by the Spectra team, inspired by a report published by the "Conseil des Montréalaises". Also, while this initiative is entirely independent of similar programs, Piknic Électronik nevertheless decided to adopt the "Hirondelles" terminology to identify its new agents, mirroring the movement already launched at other events and facilitating agent identification on the ground. In collaboration with the PLURI organization, we're launching a project that will be universal and will seek to improve inclusivity on all fronts (women, minorities, LGBTQIA+ community, etc.).

For 15 years, Piknic Électronik has developed values of tolerance, diversity and inclusion. This weekend's celebrations are subsequently the perfect moment to launch this initiative and unite our efforts to help this movement of global respect!
