INFOPROG PIKNIC #5 - JUNE 12, 2016
Get ready for a big dose of international talent and just as many local lights, because we’ve got plenty! Piknic always strives to mix up homegrown acts with the world’s best and brightest, and this week is no exception. At the Solotech stage, we start right here at home with Montrealer Erik Faulkner’s grooving house before taking a flight to Germany for Till Von Sein’s 808 claps and jacking rhythms. From Deutschland, it’s just a hop and a skip next door to France for Kill the DJ records’ Chloé’s icy-hot tech house, the perfect conclusion to what’s certain to be a party and a half under the Calder.
Over at the Vidéotron Mobile stage, Montreal collective 8day will take control with the absolute deepest of techno, starting with DJ duo SinonIM aka Michael & Sony. Their analog rhythms and subterranean bass lines will start the party off right before they pass the baton to Mexicano-Montrealer Rafa Pineda, whose unique, dubby musical world will propel the day to new heights all while keeping things subtle and minimal. That’ll hit the spot! Finally, Mexico’s RULS will close out the afternoon with the kind of intricate sound design and groove that will please one and all, completing our round-the-world-in-a-day tour de force. We can’t wait!
