INFOPROG #1+ #2 - Piknic opening double header May 22-23, 2016
Ready for summer? This year’s first Piknic weekend combines top-shelf international talent, incredible local acts and even a few surprises!
Our first Sunday under the Calder kicks off with a double dose of MTL when local lights Project Pablo and Francis Oak go back to back for a bumping start to the season at the Solotech Stage. Next, we’ll be keeping everyone on their toes with a Secret Guest! We can’t say much, but look out for a big announcement Sunday morning. Finally, Bulgarian innovator KiNK will conjure magic on stage with a gear-heavy live set that’s certain to push House and Techno to the limit.
Over at the Videotron Mobile stage, Samouraïs des Jungles Urbaines take over with the sounds of Selindion, perhaps the single greatest entertainer to ever perform on planet Earth. How will they follow that up? Why, with a triple back to back set by Nic Hamel, Matheus and The Holy promising beats and bass of all styles.
Want more? Piknic will also present a one-time-only third stage featuring Miss Mee and Monitors, who’ll be bringing only the deepest of grooves to your eardrums.
Monday’s Solotech stage festivities highlight two of the UK’s most fearless innovators, but first we’ll open up with Montreal’s Gojiberry, AKA Heidy.P and ASDF for a collision of house, techno and disco! From there, Hessle Audio’s Ben UFO will deliver an abstract, bass-heavy take on UK house, before BBC Radio 1 and Plastic People veteran Four Tet blesses Montreal with an emotional journey through the beats of today and tomorrow. An electric evening under the Calder for all!
Over at the Videotron Mobile stage, the mind-expanding Multi Culti crew will be mixing it up all day long. On the menu: Ireland’s Peter Power and our very own Thomas Von Party AKA the man behind Montreal club institution Datcha, taking us on a spiritual journey through house that you won’t want to miss.
