Bowly

Whether as Bowly or with his new project, DÐD, ESL or Knife and Fork crew, French-born Olivier Borzeix has maintained a raw, yet transversal, approach to the various styles he has explored in his few years of activity. As a relentless music explorer with roots in experimental and classical music, this adopted Montrealer has been able to develop a distinctive sound that finds itself somewhere between the skipiness and bass weight of the UK underground, the grit and energy of the Dutch scene and the hi and lo-tech soul legacy of Detroit. While releasing his debut EP on Geiom’s Berkane Sol imprint as Bowly, the DJ/producer became a mainstay in Montreal club scene, playing both underground clubs, after hours and festivals such as Piknic Electronik, Igloofest, Mutek or Osheaga. He has also played numerous events and festivals in Barcelona, London, Toronto, Vancouver and Beirut. His live sets have been celebrated as showing “exactly how viable and exciting house music still is, particularly when taken back to its first principles and given a bit of rhythmic variation.” by the likes of Fact Magazine.”
