Wally Badarou is a French artist originally from Benin. He’s a singer, songwriter, musician and producer. If we had to name drop every group he’s ever worked with, we’d be here for days. And he was almost a pilot too.

Check out his website and marvel.

I sincerely don’t know who this is, but his POP site bio has me sold. Multidisciplinary arts, YES? Need more convincing, check the site yourself.

Velvet Underground, that ring a bell? Yeah, that little 50s American rock group! John Cale helped start it (not Lou Reed, the other guy). He’s this year’s Pop Montreal “legend”. PS: He’s not stuck in the past, his latest album dropped this year.

Kode9
This Londoner, an electronic music producer and DJ, is the man behind Hyperdub Records (The Bug, Burial, Cooly G, DJ Rashad, Fatima Al Qadiri, Ikonika, Jessy Lanza, Kyle Hall, Martyn, more).

Sonic spectres and influences: dubstep, drum’n’bass, garage, dub, dancehall. Get ready for bass!

Babyfather
The latest project from Dean Blunt (Hype Williams) signed to Hyperdub. Pitchfork described his last album as such: “It is a painfully raw, emotionally generous, politically charged, intensely intelligent, sometimes unlistenable album”. That’s enough proof of quality for us!

I had the opportunity to discover Colin Stetson at Pop Montreal a few years back, thanks to a friend who dragged me out after exclaiming: “WHAT? You DON’T know Colin Stetson?”.I was flabbergasted by what I heard. He plays saxophone and it’s completely nuts. He amazing breath control allows him to play for minutes in a row, he hits the keys like percussion and he can’t sing with the best of them too. Yes, this is an amazing one.

- One of video for said song : watch it here.
