PIKNIC ÉLECTRONIK UNVEILS ITS SEASON PROGRAMMING

Olivier Drouin

Piknic Électronik always delivers the dance music artists our fans crave and we’re kicking off the proceedings with two incredible back-to-back sets highlighting Montreal’s finest. First, local icons Maus B2B MightyKat (QC) will start the season on May 21st followed by global touring superstars Tiga B2B Jacques Greene (CA) the very next day, in an exclusive, collaborative performance between two generations of talent. We’re proud to welcome House luminary Jesse Rose (GB) on June 18th for the Montreal leg of his ‘Final World Tour’ in what promises to be an evening full of emotion. Want more? Chus + Ceballos (ES) will bring the soaring sound that led them to remix Madonna on July 16th, and we’ll be hosting the Montreal debut of a long awaited Piknic favourite when Motor City Drum Ensemble (DE) FINALLY touches down in our fair city on July 30th. House superstar Seth Troxler (US) then plays Piknic for the first time on August 27th, Montreal institution Misstress Barbara (QC) and Techno idol Nicole Moudaber (GB) take control on September 3rd and 4th respectively, and we’ll keep the party rocking when The Black Madonna (US), Mixmag’s DJ of the year, showcases her soulful take on Chicago sounds on September 10th. Throw in a closing party by the one and only Josh Wink (US) and you can be sure Piknic fans will see stars both in the sky and on stage.

Accompanying these headliners will be today’s hottest names, including space disco pioneer Prins Thomas (NO) on June 4th and another massive collaborative set from Dirtybird’s ARDALAN B2B Christian Martin (US) on June 11th. Later that month on June 25th, Montreal’s Guillaume & The Coutu Dumonts (QC) will deliver an exciting blend of jazz and techno in a live performance you won’t want to miss. Roman Flügel (DE) will bring 20 years of dance music experience on July 2nd while UK leading light Cassy (GB) will be in command one week later, mixing soul with electronic grooves. We’re extra excited to welcome French Touch iconoclast Chloé (FR) on July 23rd after inclement weather stymied her set last year, and we’re sure our fans can’t wait for Jennifer Cardini’s (FR) August 13th set after she stole the show at Igloofest this winter, especially since she’ll be following up Honey Soundsystem’s (US) delectable grooves.

Finally, upcoming names like Red Axes (IL), B.Traits (CA) and YokoO (FR) and will deliver the fresh new sounds Montrealers crave well into September, ensuring the party keeps bumping to the very last beat. Finally, what would Piknic be without a brilliant cohort of rising stars? Local crews will receive plenty of love including 64Hz, All Good, Big Tooth, Bolting Bits, Elusion, NVA, and Trash Family, who’ll make their Piknic debut on May 22nd after lighting Igloofest ablaze with their hardcore bass. We’re also thrilled to once again team up with outstanding local festivals, presenting showcases with FME, MUTEK, and MEG, and to highlight music by local labels including Ghost Club, Husa Sounds and Jack’s Kartel. Thanks to these incredible showcases and a vast array of local acts displaying their unique sounds each week, Piknic will once again prove that Montreal talent means world class talent.
