Piknic Électronik unveils its season programming

Piknic Électronik unveils its 14^th season of programming today, a clear sign that summer is in the air for thousands of excited Montrealers. Because the best moments are the ones we share with good company, everyone is invited, every Sunday this summer, to dance under the Calder at Parc Jean-Drapeau, from May 22^nd to October 2^nd.

Global Headliners from Opening Day right through the season

Piknic prides itself on bringing world conquering artists to Montreal, and our 14^th season features a truly international line-up. Our inaugural double weekend kicks off Sunday, May 22^nd with a live set of gear-heavy House and Techno by Bulgarian innovator KiNK (BG) at the Solotech stage. The very next day, May 23^rd, Four Tet (GB) brings an eclectic mix of bass and broken beats to the Calder, twisting GB dance music into new shapes, and we'll top off the month with a sterling set of Berlin techno by Berghain resident Len Faki (DE) on May 29^th. Things will only get wilder when we team up with MUTEK on June 5^th for a two-stage takeover featuring Philly dance legend Josh Wink (US) before following it up with Kill The DJ Records' Chloé(FR) on June 12^th. We're also thrilled to announce that Crew Love willhelm our main stage to present Soul Clap (US) and Wolf + Lamb (US) on June 26^th, highlighting the deeper side of US dance music.

Rolling through July, Cologne's Lena Willikens (DE) will join Paris-based LOUISAHHH(US) for a day of raw outsider house and bumping techno on July 3^rd, and tINI's (DE) breezy Ibiza vibes will make Montreal dance on July 10^th. In the spirit of cooperation, we'll then be partnering with MEG on July 24^th for a two-stage collaboration featuring, among others, jackin' house don Huxley (GB). Rush Hour veteran San Proper (NL) will bring the sound of Amsterdam to our shores on August 21^st and we'll be closing the month with a set of soulful techno by Deetron (CH) on August 28^th, but don't think the party's over just yet! We've got House trendsetters George Fitzgerald (GB) and Bicep (IE) presented by our friends at NEON on September 5^th, rave legend DJ Harvey (GB) on September 18^th, and plenty more to come. From start to finish, Piknic Électronik's 14^th season is one you won't want to miss!

Local Flavours and Colours

Every year, Piknic gives local talent an opportunity to shine and they often provide the summer's brightest moments and biggest surprises. For our 14^th season, local collectives Anoma Records, Awsum Kulture, DJ Luv's Records, Moto Made, Samouraïs des Jungles Urbaines and Trash Family will be highlighting all-Quebec talent throughout the summer, while 8Day, Multi Culti and Raw Moments present stages pairing international leading lights RULS (MX), Peter Power (IE) and Cinthie (DE) with Montreal's own.

What's more, this year, two of our events are completely local, providing expanded opportunities for our talent. First, minimal institution Eresys will be celebrating their 10^th anniversary on June 19^th with a deep and dubby journey under the Calder, while Roux Soundsystem keeps it jackin' over at the Videotron Mobile Stage. Of course, Piknic wouldn't be Piknic without the one and only Misstress Barbara, and this local hero will be bringing her banging techno on September 4^th, in what's sure to be one of the season's highlights. With line-ups like these, Piknic's 14^th season will once again prove that Quebec talent bows to no one.

Free Piknics are back!

Following the instant success of last summer's series, Piknic returns to make the crowds dance for three more free Thursday events at Les Jardins Gamelin on June 16^th, July 28^th and August 25^th. And once again teaming up with Week-ends du monde, Piknic is brewing two Saturdays of free fun for July 9^th and 16^th at its Parc Jean-Drapeau site - watch this space for more details.
