PIKNIC 15TH ANNIVERSARY | 4 DAYS OF SPECIALS CELEBRATIONS

To celebrate fifteen musical summers together, Piknic Électronik is inviting Piknickers old and new to come party from Friday September 1st to Monday September 4th with four days of special activities alongside exceptional company. On the menu: a low priced “throwback” Piknic on Friday evening with Sébastien Léger, participation in the very first Électro Parade Montréal on Saturday, an extended Sunday starting with a Piknic Brunch followed by an entire day with Misstress Barbara, and a Monday Piknic with the highly anticipated first visit by Nicole Moudaber. Even the Petit Piknic space is preparing special programming for the occasion, so get your friends and family together and head down to la Plaine des Jeux to party and dance in the ambiance that’s made Piknic so unique for fifteen years!

Friday September 1st

An evening with Sébastien Léger (FR) at a throwback summer ’03 price – 5$

We usually dance in the sunshine, but it’s with a special evening that Piknic starts its long weekend anniversary alongside our friend Sébastien Léger (FR), a formidable expert who knows how to get the party started and whose previous Piknic (and Igloofest) visits have gone down in history. For the occasion, he’s preparing a 3-hour extravaganza to rock the site until an exceptional 11PM. And as a wink and a nod towards the first Piknic events of summer 2003, the cost of entry for this special evening is 5$ presale just like “back in the day” (10$ at the door).

Arrive early because the party starts at 6PM to the irresistible selections of DJ Alix (QC).

Saturday September 2nd

Piknic at the Électro Parade Montréal

Created fifteen years ago to allow electronic music to shine in the light of day, Piknic Électronik couldn’t be happier to participate in the very first Électro Parade Montréal held in North America, presented by MEG Montréal Festival and evenko, which will have Montrealers dancing in the street from the Mount Royal to the Quartier des Spectacles! For the occasion, Piknic has given command of its decks to Misstress Barbara who has carefully chosen some special guests: first, the duo of Lebaron and Pfreud, two pioneers who, like Misstress, have contributed to the evolution of electronic music in Montreal for over 20 years; and also Kris Tin who represents a new generation of innovative talent you won’t want to miss.

>> Free and open to all, the Électro Parade Montréal starts at 2PM at the bottom of Mount Royal on Park Avenue and culminates in a giant party at Quartier des Spectacles where revellers can dance until 11PM to a breathtaking list of guest artists!

Sunday September 3rd

An extended Sunday with a full day with Misstress Barbara and a Piknic Brunch

First, a major premier: for the first time in Piknic’s history, an artist will control the main stage for the entire day! Regulars know that this Sunday marks Misstress Barbara’s annual Piknic appearance and for this anniversary special, she’ll be delivering a 6+ hour marathon set. Never before at Piknic! And hold onto your hats because the Moog Audio stage will be in the hands of our friends at MEG who’ll come celebrate with us, bringing Paskal Daze (QC) and Green & Lateez (QC).

To mark this occasion, we’re extending this Sunday, always a popular one, by first proposing a Piknic Brunch from noon to 2PM, with an on-site buffet at la Plaine des Jeux. We strongly recommend you reserve your spot early, as places are limited to 500 people, and at only 10$ (in addition to the day’s entry fee, alcohol not included), they’re going fast.

Monday September 4th

A Monday Piknic with Nicole Moudaber (GB)

Piknic is extending the weekend by a day to welcome a guest whose first ever appearance at the event is already generating a buzz: Nicole Moudaber. Piknic is handing over the grand finale of these four days of exceptional festivities to this British artist, and we can’t wait to see what she has in store for us. She’ll be preceded by Ostrich (QC). Meanwhile, bass music lovers have a date with the Moog Audio stage where Montreal’s Big Tooth (QC) collective will share their expertise on the subject, during their first collaboration with Piknic.

Petit Piknic does it big on Sunday September 3rd and Monday September 4th!

Lil Piknickers will also be flooded with options at the Petit Piknic space where special activities will be on the menu Sunday the 3rd and Monday the 4th of September. They’ll want to take advantage, since these will be the two last days of 2017 season programming in this space dedicated to families. But worry not! With or without organized activities, kids are always welcome at Piknic and access is always free for young ones age 12 and under.

There you have it! A low cost Piknic evening, an Électro Parade Montréal, back to back Piknics including a brunch, special guests and can’t-miss premiers, all in four festive days! That’s what we need to celebrate fifteen years together!
