As we barrel towards September, Piknic Électronik will continue to unleash some of the hottest line-ups in dance music for all of our adoring fans, and today we’re unveiling two massive days of hot beats and good times!
On Sunday, September 11th, the Solotech stage will feature the house sounds of Montrealers Hoopalaï, guaranteed fun for all of our dedicated early birds. Want more? Russia’s Julia Govor will take us into the deep, and rhythmic realms of techno, presenting the finest in underground sounds. Finally, we cannot wait to welcome Weval’s Harm Coolen and Merijn Scholte, who’ll take us to Amsterdam with their quirky, experimental take on dance music grooves and smooth vocal lines.
Fast forward two weeks to September 25th and we have another massive day in store for dance music fans of all stripes. At the Solotech stage, it all starts when Deadlift AKA djboyzclub returns to Montreal from her current home of Berlin, bringing the underground techno our feet crave. Next up, Driss Skali will take us on a tour of the sophisticated soundscapes and beats he’s delivered across Montreal after-hours mainstays like Circus and Stereo before making way for the one and only Ellen Allien. This Berlin techno Goddess and BPitch Control founder is a dance music legend and we just can’t wait for her first set underneath the Calder since 2010.
Over at the Videotron Mobile stage, we’re happy to welcome Montreal collective 8Day’s deep, dubby techno: a rainy day cancled their june apperance, so they’re more than ready! It all starts with Mexicano-Montrealer Chiino who’ll introduce us to 8Day’s dubby musical world. DJ duo SinonIM’s analog rhythms and subterranean bass lines will then propel the day to new heights before Rafa Pineda closes out the day with his intricate sound design and grooves.
