15th Anniversary Piknic (September 1st)
Piknic usually means dancing in the sunshine on a Sunday, but there’s a special evening in store for you on September 1st at the Solotech stage. Piknic is kicking off its long weekend anniversary alongside a Piknic veteran, Sébastien Léger, a formidable expert who knows how to get the party started and whose previous Piknic (and Igloofest) visits have gone down in history. For the occasion, he’s preparing a 3-hour extravaganza to rock the site until an exceptional 11PM. And as a wink and a nod towards the first Piknic events of summer 2003, the cost of entry for this special evening is 5$ presale just like “back in the day” (10$ at the door). Arrive early because the party starts at 6PM to the irresistible selections of Alix.
Electro Parade Montréal (September 2nd)
The very next day on September 2nd, Piknic Électronik couldn’t be happier to participate in the very first Électro Parade Montréal held in North America, presented by MEG and evenko, which will have Montrealers dancing in the street from the Mount Royal to the Quartier des spectacles! For the occasion, Piknic has given command of the decks to Misstress Barbara who has carefully chosen some special guests: first, the duo of Lebaron and Pfreud, two pioneers who, like Misstress, have contributed to the evolution of electronic music in Montreal for over 20 years; and also Kris Tin who represents a new generation of innovative talent you won’t want to miss.
>> Free and open to all, the Électro Parade Montréal starts at 2PM at the bottom of Mount Royal on Park Avenue and culminates in a giant party at Quartier des Spectacles where revellers can dance until 11PM with special guest artists Paul Kalbrenner, Agoria and Prince Club.
Piknic #15 (September 3rd)
A world premier! For the first time in Piknic’s history, an artist will control the main stage for the entire day! Regulars will remember that this Sunday marks Misstress Barbara’s annual Piknic appearance and for this anniversary special, she’ll be delivering a 6+ hour marathon. Who else but Misstress, a Montreal legend and all time friend of Piknic, to celebrate this incredible milestone by breaking new ground? Never before at Piknic!
And hold onto your hats because the Moog Audio stage will be in the hands of our friends at MEG who’ll come celebrate with us, bringing the pumping, high energy sounds of local light Paskal Daze and the deep, rolling House goodness of fellow Montrealers Green & LaTeez. In short, the perfect Labour Day Sunday!
Piknic #16 (September 4th)
To cap off four days of extraordinary electronic music, Piknic is extending the weekend by a day to welcome an artist whose first ever appearance at the event is already generating a massive buzz: Nicole Moudaber. Piknic is handing over the celebrations’ grand finale to this British artist at the cutting edge vanguard of techno, and we can’t wait to see what she has in store for us. Prior to her arrival, you’ll want to hear the sounds ofOstrich, whose intricate mixing and impeccable selection have made him a favourite of STEREO and Stereobar fans.
Meanwhile, bass music lovers have a date with the Moog Audio stage where Montreal’s Big Tooth collective will share their expertise on the subject, during their first collaboration with Piknic. Better yet, they’ve promised us a slew of back to back sets, ensuring the day is full of exciting musical alchemy. Expect heaviness of all sorts when This.Is.Ray open things, SUBstance B2B Dabman come through with roughneck electro, BawdyB2B SHAKE deliver the heat, Izzy VadimB2B Toast makes the floor rumble, Montreal celebrities The W4rriors bring their fire and a Surprise Guest closes things out!
Piknic #17 (September 10th)
We’re not slowing down even a tiny bit as we enter the heart of September. At the Solotech stage, we’re incredibly excited to welcome Mixmag’s DJ of the Year, Chicago’s very own The Black Madonna. An absolute house historian and a master at creating a vibe, she’s certain to have us grooving to classics new and old. You’ll want to come early as well, because she’ll be following up Bamboo Hermann’s delectable grooves, and Radiant Baby’s opening set promises to set the stage for a day of fun in the sun.
At the Moog Audio Stage, we’ll be exploring a world of rhythm and melody, with an emphasis on live performance. Jaclyn Kendall will open up the day with a DJ set full of high energy grooves, before BSLC steps up with a live set full of unexpected flourishes and innovative sound design. Then, Groj takes control of the headlining spot, capping the day off also in live mode with his electronic experiments.
Piknic #18 (September 17th)
A music lesson like we love them as the Solotech stage will be in the hands of the incomparable Honey Dijon, a fashion and musical icon, crate digger extraordinaire and oldschool Chicago legend whose skills on the decks are to be heard to be believed. If you have a passion for classic House, the music of tomorrow and everything in between, you won’t want to miss her! The day will open with a DJ set by an artist to be confirmed.
Over at the Moog Audio stage, we’ll be handing over the reins to the Ghost Club label, who’ll be presenting up to the minute beats and bass to make you wiggle. It all starts with DJ Nav and the vocal stylings of his guests, Aaricia and Cyber, followed by producer extraordinaire Jaymie Silk, the deep sounds of LUST and finally, Montreal grand poobah Prince Club.
Piknic #19 (September 24th)
As we say in Montreal, “ce n’est qu’un au revoir!” For our final Piknic of the season, we’re going all out at the Solotech stage, starting with the thunderous live sounds of UNDERHER, a mysterious duo with plenty of energy to go around. Then, in our final headlining set of 2017, we’re presenting techno legend and grandmaster Josh Wink, a veteran DJ and producer whose latest work is among the most mind-bending acid techno out right now. A real treat for this last opportunity to party outdoors… until Igloofest that is!
Finally, at the Moog Audio stage, it’s PIKNIC VIBE, our very own wrap party with members of our team taking turns on the decks all day long. Come hear the sounds of Antoine de Grâce, Maxime de Gamache, Los Renardos and Patrick Van Horne – it’s going to be special!
