INFOPROG | MAY 2017

Spring is upon us, and Piknic is here to kick it off with its traditional double header. Are you excited? Because we are! On May 21st and 22nd, we’re launching the season with an all-Montreal lineup, at the Solotech Stage, showcasing the absolute finest talent our city has to offer. First up, on Sunday the 21st, Seychelle’s brand new take on energetic techno will start the day with futuristic sounds to open your minds, followed by Claire’s trippy, hypnotic grooves that will keep your feet moving. Then, the day will culminate with a back-to-back set by two Montreal veterans, when Maus B2B MightyKat take us on a musical journey, perfect for dancing to the sunset and beyond. These two experts in house and techno have led the vanguard of Montreal dance music throughout its history, and we’re proud to have them closing our first day of the year.

Meanwhile, over at the Moog Audio Stage, Israel’s Red Axes will headline the day with a funky, organic take on contemporary grooves, peppering broken drums with electronic soundscapes for their Montreal debut. They’ll be preceded by Montreal favourite Multi Culti’s diverse sounds, which have thrilled hometown fans at Datcha and worldwide audiences alike throughout the year.

Less than 24 hours later, on Monday May 22nd, Turbo Records’ Ledisko will open the Solotech stage with a true techno clinic, bringing energy and swagger to start the day off right. He’ll be the perfect selector to get you on your feet and moving, before ceding the decks to Tiga B2B Jacques Greene for a double dose of Montreal superstardom. These two names have climbed to the summit of international dance music and they’re saving this exclusive tag team set for their hometown. We guarantee it’s an event you absolutely cannot miss.

At the Moog Audio stage, fellow Montrealers Trash Family will be in control, making their Piknic debut after a sensational Igloofest set. DJ Robi Jewel will start the day in fine style, before Dopamyne continues the electro journey and Kl.tz ramps up the energy into darker climes with some truly nocturnal, subterranean techno sounds. Finally, FilthyBeast will end the evening with a hardcore crescendo, bringing the day to its peak. Grab on to your hats, it’s going to be a wild ride!

PLEASE NOTE: Piknic is exceptionally taking a break on Sunday, May 28th to make room for “Bal en Blanc in the Park”, another promoter’s event. Piknic passes and tickets will not provide access to this event. Visit the Bal en blanc website for tickets. See you on Sunday, June 4th!
