INFOPROG | JUNE 2017
Piknic #3 (JUNE 4th)
Piknic season is in full swing and we’re rushing into June with truly blazing line-ups. We’ll begin the month with Norwegian space disco pioneer Prins Thomas who’ll headline and deliver a breezy set of uptempo grooves and shimmering soundscapes at the Solotech stage. He’ll be immediately preceded by Marcellus Pittman, who’ll bring some Detroit flavor to Piknic in all of its eclectic glory after Montreal’s Erik Faulkner opens up the day with his signature deep vibes.
Over at the Moog Audio stage, we’re celebrating the 64Hz crew’s 10th anniversary in style with a full day takeover! Bonus Beats will begin the day with his signature sound before passing the baton to Sinae. Then, it’s three massive back-to-back sets with Monokini San B2B Dorobo, Galaks B2B Sipherdee and Bushido B2B Tone Selekt. This is one Montreal techno fans won’t want to miss!
Piknic #4 (JUNE 11th)
It’s all about low-end vibrations and big pumping drums! The Solotech stage will open to the sounds of Conkrete’s White, who’ll blend UK sounds to techno’s driving rhythms, followed by Mandiz, Montreal’s Queen of Booty Bass who’ll be sure to get those behinds shaking to her massive basslines and percussion. Then, Dirtybird will return to Piknic when Ardalan goes B2B with Christian Martin, because summer just wouldn’t be summer without this label we know and love.
Meanwhile, FME will take over the Moog Stage this week, with a unique roster of experimental talent, ready to surprise and delight! Feu St-Antoine of Essaie Pas will kick things off by introducing Piknic to his DJing for the very first time, then Co/ntry, who just dropped a psychedelic coldwave album currently making an impact on the Montreal pop scene, will unveil their first-ever Celestial Program Select DJ set. Finally, Woulg will take us into a world full of high speed sounds and glitchy, mindbending effects, (mélodies? a performance that’s sure to keep the party rocking until the very end.
Piknic #5 (JUNE 18th)
It’ll be an emotional day at the Solotech stage when we welcome Jesse Rose’s “Thanks for Dropping By: The Final World Tour.” This House music legend is hanging up his DJ hat after a spectacular career, and we’re honored to welcome the Montreal stop of this extended farewell sendoff. Accompanying him that day will be Canadian eclectic and BBC Radio 1 veteran B.Traits, a smash sensation at Igloofest earlier this year with her radical rhythms, and Montreal’s Auvertone in the opening spot, delivering his patented textured techno.
That same day at the Moog Audio stage, we’ll be celebrating FrontRite’s Elusion Sessions’ 1st anniversary. Debbie Døe, Nic Falardeau and Kora will deliver 3 sets across the spectrum of deep house, combining twitchy drums to subterranean textures all day long.
Piknic #6 (JUNE 25th)
We’ll end June on a high note at the Solotech stage with a lineup of all-Montreal highlights who’ll each deliver a unique vision of our fair city’s electronic music landscape. At the Solotech Stage, Fred Everything will begin the day by displaying a true mastery of House music in all of its forms, getting his rapturous fanbase moving and cranking up the energy. Then, Guillaume & The Coutu Dumonts will deliver and outstanding live set full of funky instrumentation and sunny sensations.
This Montreal theme will continue on at the Moog Audio stage, where Techno will be the name of the game when DJ Mini begins the day. This veteran selector will once again bring a deep knowledge of electronic soundscapes to Piknic, before Ponsolo continues our journey into the deep with his new school sound design and bumping beats. It all makes for a month full of amazing music, and you won’t want to miss a minute.
