Piknic Électronik unveils the soundtrack for its 19th edition

All summer long at Parc Jean-Drapeau from May 22 to October 2, 2022!

Montreal, April 12, 2022 – Today Piknic Électronik is unveiling the soundtrack for its 19th season. From May 22 to October 2, Montrealers’ favourite summer fest will bring together big names and up-and-comers in electronic music from across Quebec and around the world. This new season will beat to the rhythms of equality, men/women, taking to parc Jean-Drapeau for no less than 18 events and 100 performances all summer long!

Unbelievable electronic line-up

French touch masters Breakbot & Irfane will open the show on Sunday May 22nd. They will be accompanied by French artist Darius and Montreal duo Voyage Funktastique, while the Qualité De Luxe collective will storm the second stage with a set featuring Poirier, KYOU, and Sugarface Belfo on turntables. The festivities continue the next day with the progressive house beats of Hernan Cattaneo, who will take over the Videotron main stage all day long. The disco-house sounds of Salomé le Chat, Sierra, and Victor Rodriguez will get picnikers dancing at the “boisé” stage. On May 29th, legendary Detroit group Octave One will take to the main stage while rising Bristol breakbeat star Batu will play the second stage to wow the crowd. CMD, Montrealer Claire, Lis Dalton, and Boomer Baby will open the dancefloor on both stages the same day. On June 5th, Dirtybird label head Claude Vonstroke will light up parc Jean-Drapeau, while Montreal collective Rawmoments will spin the second stage with the minimal house sounds of Paolo Rocco, Lessi S, B2B Pijynman, and Shirlee. Then on June 12th, not one but two Montreal collectives have taken up the Picnik invitation: on one stage, OCTOV with French DJ Anetha will be accompanied by BitterCaress and Inside Blur, and on the other, La Rama featuring Montrealers Gene Tellem and Kris Guilty will be B2B mixing all day long. Then the last weekend in June will be 100% Quebec-centred so festivalgoers can celebrate Saint-Jean: on June 26th, the trance sounds of TDJ and electro-rap music of High Klassified will be joined by Montreal musicians and DJs Clickbait, plus VR Chads, Tallandskiinny, Nana Zen and Charles Cozy.

In July and August, the rhythms keep going, starting on July 3rd with Ukrainian DJ techno star Nastia, along with Dust-e-1, Perel, Esther, and Rebogene who will perform for the Montreal crowd. The following July 10th weekend, British DJ and techno music producer Rebekah will be joined by Wallis, Omar Hamdi, a liver performance by Leo Pol, Heidy P, and Balou. Then on July 17th, fans will experience the original, mind-blowing productions of Australian Mall Grab, plus Martyn Bootyspoon, M0llygum, The Holy, Shift Radio co-founder Audrey Bélanger, and Donotstealmyname. On July 24th, the icon of a generation Ellen Allien will electrify the crowd along with Ledisko, while XYZ will take control of the second stage with melodic New York deep-scene favourite David Orin, Mitch Oliver, and Laure. August 14th weekend pays homage to the Pride Fest with lots in store for picnikers: Montreal queer collective Slut Island with special guests DOSS, Syana, and Digital Polyglot, along with British underground electronic artist Maya Jane Coles and Montrealers Guillaume Michaud and Ian Jackman. Then legendary Detroit techno house producer Omar S takes the stage August 28th along with Regularfantasy and Farren Laen while MUTEK plays Picnik with Debbie Doe, Personal Demons, and a special guest!

Summer doesn’t end there! Piknic Electronik takes over all of September, starting with a traditional collaboration with the MEG festival and the mythic Misstress Barbara on September 4th. The same day, Berlin-based Peruvian producer and composer Sofia Kourtesis, along with Devo B and DJ Frog, will also take to the stage. Then on September 5th, festivalgoers will celebrate Labour Day at parc Jean-Drapeau accompanied by artists from British label Anjunadeep, including Tinlicker and Montrealer Sinca, along with the melodic and progressive house sounds of Hyunji-A. In collaboration with RAW, the boisé stage will feature the techno beats of Sara Landry, the futuristic sounds of BXTR, Raumm (Live), and Xaviera. On September 11th, German DJ Boys Noize is on turntables accompanied by Detroit-electro-inspired Australian artist Jensen Interceptor, as well as Mayday, Sweely, Ēmikkē, and Mok T. CRi is also headed to Piknic Électronik for his only DJ set of the summer on September 18th, along with yehno, Stacey Sexton, India Jordan, Skesa, and Leëf. On September 25th, Piknic gives carte blanche for Parisian collective POSSESSION to light up the second stage accompanied by Parfait, AADJA, and softcoresoft. Job Jobse and Elias Mazian round out the day’s programming with their house and uplifting trance styles. Then the Piknic Électronik season comes to an end with Polish DJ VTSS, along with UNIIQU3 and Jelz. Montreal collective FrontRite takes over the second stage with Kris Tin, Unlimited Free Guestlist, and Molyness.
