DoroboCANicolas Rouleau, aka dj Dorobo, was introduced to electronic rhythms approximately fifteen years ago via industrial music: Skinny Puppy, Pop Will Eat Itself can be quoted as being the first subversive elements in which he got interested. It was thus natural for him to attend his first techno event a few years later and to discover there an unconditional passion for these hypnotic sounds. After some time spent in the world of psychedelic music, Nicolas started to chart a new musical course, moving towards slower and more refined sonorities. His weapon of choice nowadays is a fine mixture of techno, garage, techno-dub.

appleblimGBAppleblim came to light running and releasing on the now defunct Skull Disco with Shackleton. Having been regulars at FWD>> from late 2002, then the only place you could hear dubstep, they were inspired by the likes of Digital Mystikz, Youngsta, D1 & Skream, to set up Skull Disco to release their own efforts at production. When he and Shackleton decided to fold Skull Disco on a high, Appleblim went about setting up Apple Pips. The label debuted with Martyn's 'Suburbia' and has since released genre shattering tracks by Brackles, Instra:mental, Ramadanman, Al Tourettes, Greena, Jus Wan & Brendon Moeller. Apple Pips continues to release quality electronic dance music of all genres, with a concentration on more upcoming Bristol based talent as well as tracks from talented producers round the world.

Addison Groove (Live)GBAntony Williams (aka Addison Groove) started out life under a different pseudonym altogether. As Headhunter, he achieved legendary status within the dubstep scene. With an LP and 12” releases on the influential Tempa label stretching back to 2007, his work at the deeper end of the dubstep spectrum has graced the label an impressive 7 times, a figure matched only by luminaries such as Skream & Horsepower Productions. This work looked set to continue until 2010 when, seemingly out of nowhere, he crafted one of the biggest bass music tracks of the decade, ‘Footcrab’, under the new name of Addison Groove. Progressing at a breakneck pace, he was quick to develop a live Addison Groove 808 show, which has graced some of the finest nightclubs in the world including Fabric, London and Berlin’s infamous Berghain.

Scuba vs SCBGBPhoto by Jimmy Mould
Paul Rose is one of the most influential figures in the world of dubstep. As label head of Hotflush Recordings, he's helped release work from Benga, Shackleton and, of course, Joy Orbison. Events-wise, he's one of the masterminds behind Sub:stance, a night that has brought the likes of Mala, D-Bridge, Scion and Kode9 to Berlin's Berghain. And, under the Scuba name, he's produced two full-lengths of remarkably diverse work that reflect his wide-ranging taste and machine mastery. But his recently birthed SCB moniker has reflected another huge interest of Rose's, that of the four-four variety. Described recently as "Balearic techno with a rainy soul" by RA's Max Bacharach, Rose's SCB project has the same focus on emotional body music.
