Evolving at the center of Montreal’s electronic scene for more than four years, Lucie Lebel has fast made a name for herself at well known clubs performing behind the decks of Salon Daome, Stereobar, U.N. Club, Piknic Electronik, Opera nightclub, Bain Mathieu, Hotel W as well as several loft partys in the City. Inspired by works of Joris Voorn and Mark Farina and as fan of several local and international artists, Lucie opens the doors to the universe of funky sounds and styles of techno and tech-house.
Starting his professional career in 1983 at the Futuriste Club in Montreal, Mike Perras was a member of one of the very first house-music bands in Montreal, Made 2 Funk. These days, Perras is the cofounder of the labels Mikrobe Recordings and Bouche à Bouche, as well as djmr.com, one of the only digital and vinyl record stores on the web for independent dance music in Canada. He is also the owner – and a resident DJ – of Club U-N in Montreal.
Max Cooper's techno ranges from stark electronica remixes of huge bands like Hot Chip and Au Revoir Simone to the fuzzy, buzzing dancefloor sound of his breakthrough "Serie" releases. Before breaking through with the underground smash Harmonish Serie in early 2009 - a Raveline "heavy rotation" track and a top 5 vinyl hit in Germany - Max already had releases on more than 20 labels like Traum, Bedrock, Perc Trax, IRL, Autist, and veryverywrongindeed, and he'd been DJing for more than 10 years. Since then, he's gone on to have two Hype Machine top 20s and a string of major-label remixes due to hit late 2010.
"Loud Home Listening Music" is the premise under which Nearfield gathers once a month at CFC (the old Zoobizarre) for the first Friday of every month. They also get together to record podcasts. Nearfield evenings are marked by their eclecticism and the richness of their musical selection. Spinning alongside Nearfield is resident DJ and podcast conceptualist Soundshaper, who is a veteran of the Montreal electronic scene as well as Piknic Électronik.
